Search for beta-delayed charged particles from the halo nucleus 14Be
Author
Summary, in English
In a search for β-delayed charged particles from 14Be we have obtained an upper limit on β-delayed greek small letter alpha particles, B(βgreek small letter alpha)<1.2×10−4, and found evidence for β-delayed tritons at intensity of 6×10−5<B(βt)<4×10−4 (both at 95% confidence level). By adding information on the β-delayed neutron branches from direct measurements at low neutron energy and indirect detection via recoiling nuclei at high energy, and by including also information from earlier experiments, we deduce the β strength distribution from 14Be. This differs significantly from shell-model calculations at high excitation energy.
